Tonight at Millett Hall, it's Miami vs. Kent State! What else needs to be said. This will be a war! Kent comes in as one of only two remaining MAC unbeatens and is on a six-game winning streak. They're led by senior guards Jay Youngblood & DeAndre Haynes. Youngblood averages 15 1/2 points a game and had a season-high 27 points in their win at Northern Illinois on Saturday. For his efforts last week, he is this week's MAC East Player of the Week. Haynes averages 11 1/2 points a game and shoots it up at 38% from outside the arc. Also on the team, coming off the bench, is senior forward Kevin Warzynski and JC transfer Omni Smith. Warzynski averages 9 points and 5 1/2 rebounds a games, while Smith averages 9 points a game and is shooting 42% from "3". Both have been providing Kent Head Coach Jim Christian with an instant impact when entering the game.
According to the Miami game notes, look for senior guard Josh Hausfeld to start tonight in place of Doug Penno. Josh has been playing well as of late in coming back from the ankle injuries he suffered last year and during the summer.
I can't stress enough how important it is for Miami fans to come out to this game tonight! Be there and bring along your friends, fellow students and casual acquaintances to the game!
The Miami Sports Network Broadcast is on the air at 6:30 with the Miami Courtside Show. Tonight's game is being tape-delayed on Time Warner Television with the replay airing tomorrow night (Jan. 25th) at 7:30 PM. There will be a LIVE video webcast of tonight's game for those who subscribe to the MSN All-Access Internet pass.
